Our ears have evolved a mechanism whereby mid and high frequency sounds are resonated, which adds distortion to our hearing and triggers a fight-or-flight response that we feel as stress.

This is an amazing mechanism, but it is often overworked in our noisy modern world where we no longer need to be alerted to the sound of a twig snapping - instead, our hearing can often be overloaded.

Calmer decreases the amount of inner-ear resonance, allowing for reduced noise sensitivity and lower stress levels.
